Hi i thought this would be interesting to some people. I took my truck to a back road and was able to use my G_Tech Pro on it. I have a
2001 F-150 reg cab long bed,
5.4L 4r100, and 3.73 open rear.
Here are some average numbers 5 tries.
0-60 9.44 seconds
rwhp 208 hp
sorry no 1/4mile yet, didnt have a chance to do it. i will update when i get some numbers.
I've got the older model G-Tech. It's a great tool for tuning, although it helps to have flat roads and no wind (almost impossible in Wyoming). Don't think mine will calculate rear wheel hp - do you have to input the vehicle weight?
HI i also have the older model one. You should be able to calculate hp, and yes you have to input vehicle weight. Make sure you put in the correct weight it makes a big difference.
That's cool, I figured I had a better 0-60 time than that. I can do a mean highway merge from a standing start and catch traffic in what seems like 6 seconds... I know our trucks weren't designed for 0-60 times.... well maybe the Lightning was, but I'm wondering if my truck has been reprogrammed, cause I don't see an aftermarket chip in the slot. Though it looks to have had a programmer mounted directly above the interface port before I bought it.
My current truck lets out more condensate from the pipes than any other car/truck I've seen without a check engine/emissions light being on. My truck exhaust looks like it's always below freezing when the temperature is below 60 F, it "smokes" that bad during warm weather when I start it regardless of temp, humidity, or atmospheric pressure. Could this be a sign that programming has changed. I'm just curious if anybody else has seen this, as I don't have any plans to run down to the local dealer and have them run a programming diagnostic.
Hi, i dont know if your truck has been reprogrammed but i have had water comming out of the exhaust on cold start ups.
I think that 6 seconds would be really fast for a pick up, you would have to have some really good mods. i wouldnt be surpised with a high 7s 0-60 though. I am getting an exhaust system on my truck for christmas and i am wondering what kind of improvement i am going t get.
i am glad i got a baseline run before i do some mods.
The truck has a condensate problerm regardless of when I'm driving it. It steams all of the time, even after driving it for 30 minutes with the temp at 75 F. That's why I'm puzzled.
I couldn't tell you what the baseline was before the exhaust upgrade to this truck. I've bought it with the setup. It's not a true dual. It seems like the pipe runs larger from the cat to the muffler. Then it runs two 2.25" pipes out of the muffler to 3" outlets under the bumper. This exhaust set-up may have helped with the "smoking."
One of these days, I'll actually time it. Maybe today with the inlaws in the truck
the condensate issue is actually a little bit scary...could be nothing but thats also a sign of a head gasket problem if Im not mistaken. anyone wanna confirm or deny this?
Well, I don't loose any coolant. The system is at the same level it has been since I bought the truck 14 months ago.
I see your point dcat14, but in my case it doesn't apply. My truck just loves to "steam."
As far as the 0-60 time, the truck did a 0-60 by speedo in just over 8 seconds, 8.04 seconds by wrist mounted stop watch , up a little bit of a hill onto the freeway. Take it with a grain of salt. Kids thought it was cool...
