Buying a spare computer

I'm thinking of buying a spare computer for my truck. Has anyone dealt with module mechanics?
They're the only company I see with decent reviews who have an "ae2a" computer in stock.
I had my computer out a few weeks back to replace capacitors and took pictures of it. It looks like the original computer to me.

I haven't but might check RockAuto, sometimes they do and sometimes they don't. What are their prices? If they have more than 30 good reviews or so I'd take a chance. I don't know where you're located but when I was having trouble finding a computer for my 94 (took a week with lots of phone calls) and found these guys out of Colorado Spring, CO called https://theecuconnection.com/ and I'm happy. It took 2 weeks for it to get to me which which was my only complaint but supposedly they were moving to a bigger building at the time.

That's my 2 cents, hope this was useful.

I used module mechanics for a PSOM repair. No problems.

I didn't know they worked on these computers. It makes sense that they would, just don't recall seeing it as a listed service.

They're more expensive than Rock Auto but lately they're the only ones with my computer and good reviews.

I ordered a module for a customers Lexus and it's been a nightmare. All extensive troubleshooting points back to Module Mechanics module. We've been trying to contact their support. If you call and select any option other than Sales, you get a recording that gives you an email address. They do NOT call you back timely and after harassing them they do respond and make no sense like this:

"You’ve already replaced the skid once? We’ve sold a few of these and noticed it’s fixed issues for a few consumers. Maybe it was a bad unit? I’d try replacing it again with another unit. Seems like you’re going down the right path."

HUH??? I'd love to try replacing it a second time if they'd send me a damn unit! I emailed back and no answer so I used their Send Us a Message on their website and 14 hours later the same guy responded and said:

"

I'm sorry to hear about this experience. I'm not sure why you didn't receive a call back, we'll look into this matter.
We are in touch with your tech through email and will get this sorted as soon as we can.

Sorry for the hassle on this.

He has NEVER contacted my tech, my shop or me since and that was 7/10/25 at 630AM...34 hours ago! I've since sent numerous emails and called their sales line again but they keep saying they are just a call center and don't work for the company or have any other contact information. So, I decided maybe a bad review would wake them up. Guess what? They do NOT have a Google profile or Google page but they somehow have dozens upon dozens of Google reviews shared on their website and other sites.

Before you order anything, try to find a place to leave them a review! That'll tell you all you need to know. Stay away!

I already bought one from them, but I haven't tried it out yet. Hopefully I'll have better results. I did unpackage it but I didn't open it to look at the circuit board.
