I plan on removing the smog pump on my motorhome. It has a 460 v8 in it and I’m just wondering what kind of work goes into this and if anyone knows a belt I can use once it is removed.
what hoses will I have to remove? The steel tube going to the cat has already rotted off so that’s already dealt with, are there any other hoses that need to be removed?
also will there be any vacuum lines that will need to be capped off? Any vacuum canisters I could remove along with it?
finally are there any issues this could cause with how the engine runs? Will it throw a code? It is OBD1 so I don’t think it will but I just want to be sure
I’m definitely deleting the cat too, it is very rotted out and all my local auto parts stores have new ones listed at around the $2000 CAD range which is ridiculous. My buddies and I bought the motorhome about two weeks ago and we recently found that the previous owner tried to fix it with RTV silicone😂
thanks for the info, I’ve found a few different belts that will probably work
How's the 460 sit in there, room? I'm tired of trying to get the stupid 4.9 to run right, mechanic has a Lincoln with a 460, gonna see if he'll put it in my van, should be fun in a shorty.
Plug your vacuum lines, keep the EGR, you'll not have any codes, mine wasn't affected, capped the pipes in the head.
The 460 is really shoehorned in there, not a lot of room to do much of anything. I am dreading the time I have to replace the spark plugs. It has plenty of power, but the engine bay is really cramped
