What is the correct u-joint for the front driveshaft on a 1996 f150 4x4 with the manual transmission? I ordered the Spicer u-joints that have the 1.063 and 1.125 caps and the larger caps don't fit the pinion or t-case, they are just slightly too large. The smaller caps fit but seem to be able to wiggle too easily side to side in curve of the cup. What's the deal? I thought these trucks took the funky size u-joint. Need to figure out what the correct one is so I can put this back together. Any help would be great!
The U joint that has the two different cap sizes is just for the rear axle flange that uses U bolts (not you)
That was the rear u joint rear shaft
The style that uses the bolt on flange uses a Spicer / Dana 5-7438x (you)
F2TZ-4635-E should be the more expensive Ford greaseable one
Right, same
They are 1350 series in size IIRR
Look them up on the AutoZone site or just plain old Google
Recently had a driveline rebuilt for a 99 F250 with a blown out CV joint stub and ball
It used the 1350s too
