The charcoal canister should not be deleted. The fuel vapor from your tank vents through the charcoal filter and prevents raw fuel vapor from venting under the hood. If you delete it there will be a strong gas smell. If you plug it your tank will swell when it gets hot because there is no vent anymore. Everytime you open your tank you'll get a hissing noise or it will spit at you because of the pressure built up.
You do want to make sure the rubber lines going to it and to the PCV aren't brittle or cracked.
