Well, I'm no engineer, and I'm no electrician, but I have been using that method for the last 40+ years and it has never been wrong, so I can't honestly tell you it's not a for sure thing because it's always been right for me.

That’s good enough for me. I was sure it was the Alternator and when the test came up negative, I thought the test might not be reliable. The test was right, it was something I messed up.
