High voltage 6V

Hi! I have about 7.8-8.0V on battery when running the engine and pull out the throttle cable some. Of course it goes down some with the lights on but I am still worried to ruin my new battery when driving with some more rpm. I suppose my voltage regulator is gone. That's the maximum acceptable voltage for my 6V system? Can you point me in the right direction to get a new regulator for my ( 6V positive ground) 1952 truck? I have seen blue or black out there. Thanks!!
Mats Nilsson, Sweden

Thanks! I think he is adjusting the amps and not when the regulator is going to cut for high voltage. Is it possible to adjust the regulator to cut at 7.0V?

The video shows adjusting the voltage regulator unit spring tab to adjust voltage. The current and cutout were left alone. The current readings were showing the generator was working under load. You want the voltage to be about 7 to 7.2 volts.

Thanks a lot, both of you! I misunderstood the video. Probably my bad english. I suppose it's difficult to do this with regulator in the truck. I just have to decide if I can send the regulator to a shop or buy a new one. Best Regards Mats Nilsson, Sweden

It can be done in the truck. I'm not sure about parts availability in Sweden, but unfortunately, the costs to have a professional adjust it would likely exceed the cost of new here. However, there is no guarantee that the new one will be adjusted satisfactorily either...

Thanks once again!!! I was thinking the same. I had a mach1-69 a lot of years ago and tried 2-3 bad chinese regulators before I went with an old stock regulator. I will make some phonecalls tomorrow and see what they got.
