I’m in the thought process of swapping frames on my 1985 f150, i want to see if anyone has done this or not. I’m looking at buying a 1988 f250 302 4 speed 4x4, i want to know if i can just frame swap it with my 85. My 85 currently has a 302 with a 4 speed, the 1988 has also been converted to a bullnose front end. Any help would be appreciated
Are you going to use the f250 axles and suspension? If so, the swap will be easy, just a body swap. You will have to swap the fuel tanks and the wiring also.
If you are planning to swap the f250 frame in, and then use the f150 axles and suspension, no that will not swap.
I’m going to use the 250s frame, axels, transmission, motor and use the 150s body and wiring, but I do want to drop the 250s body back onto the 150s frame and resell it

I will use the 250s frame, motor, transmission, and axels, then put my 150 body on it. then I'd like to put the 250s body onto the 150s frame and resell it. the 250 is a 1988 but the owner has gotten rid of the stock computer apparently, I know about the bumpers sometimes having mounting issues but the 250 frame already has a bullnose bumper on it. I plan on using all of my wiring from my 85, I have the duraspark 2 ignition. my main worry is about hooking up my backup lamp switch and having a working 4x4 indicator lamp, my current instrument bezel has the 4x4, and I think all of them do. but I'm not sure how to wire the 4x4 indicator.
See if the f250 transfer case has a place for the switch that your f150 has. If it does, then just put the f150 transfer case switch into the f250 transfer case and plug the wire in from the f150 harness. By the way, there is no difference between the engine, transmission and transfer case in the f150 and the f250. There are different brands and styles of transmissions and transfer cases, but there is no "heavy duty" version because it is in a f250. The axles in the f250 will be heavier with 8 lugs wheels. The f250 frame may be a little bit thicker, depending on what version it is. I think you said the 88 f250 has a 302 in it. If that is the original engine, that means it was a lighter duty or regular f250, not the f250HD version.
And don't forget, you CANNOT use the fuel tank sending units from the f250 frame once you put the early body on it. They changed the sending units in 1987, and the later units will not work with the 1986-down fuel gauge.
