2020 6.2…after lifting out of the throttle mostly heading downhill I get an occasional rough shift between 4th and 5th gear. Has anyone else had this? It almost seems like the trans is confused on which gear it wants to be in.
I’m also on occasion hearing a loud squeak that lasts a few seconds from somewhere around the radiator fan. Seems to happen mostly when the truck is cold. It’s doesn’t seem like a bad belt or pulley as those type of squeaks don’t come and go like this one.
this truck only has 28k miles so I’m a little perplexed
The squeak/squeal around the fan is most likely the fan clutch. It's common on the 6.2L. Cold starts when below freezing was when my truck did it..the colder it was, the longer and louder the squealing was. Went away when warmed up.

I have had 1 rough shift in 3 years, it was just bad timing I believe... I was going down a steep hill in 3rd slowed down and it shifted into 1st just as I pressed on the gas pedal and then it shifter into 3rd as it was basically rev-matching and then engine braking... Otherwise every shift is buttery smooth so far... 40,000. miles...
I had this recently. My truck started having hard downshifts at about 32k miles. The dealership completed adaptation reprogramming of the transmission control module and it completely fixed the issue. For now at least.

were you still under warranty or did you pay? How much?
I have had the occasional rough shift for a bit now, didn't think much of it. So when I took it in last week for its oil change, asked the dealer to take a look. I assumed it would just be a quick computer update/reprogram like nickshu above and everything would be fine........... it was not....... see my post https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...placement.html
If you have concerns and it's still under warranty, I would suggest taking it in and having them look at it.

Thanks for posting this. I'm having a similar experience in my 22 gasser.
So I had this truck at the dealer today. Of course they “couldn’t duplicate” the rough shift…no shocker there. I also had them check the ticking sound from the engine compartment and they said it’s normal for the 6.2 engines and that it was the purge valve. That doesn’t make sense to me as I’ve never heard a purge valve act like that. Are they trying to pull a fast one here? Has anyone been given the same excuse?
