Hello All
I've owned three Ford trucks over the years. Four if you count the '79 I parted out with a friend in the early 90's. I had an "88 F-150 2wd that I drove for 25 years before it just wasn't worth putting the money into it to get another five years out of it.
I came across FTE while searching up some questions. I have a '77 F-250 custom 4wd that I bought used in '87. I had a blast with it in my late teens and early twenties. It was always a beater, not a daily driver. A Frankenstein truck for sure. Then life happens, and priorities change. I was lucky enough to buy a house with a two car detached garage, but no money to keep a beater on the road, and hobbies change. So the truck has sat in my garage for the last thirty years. It's time to resurrect the beast. Holding on to the thing this long, and not getting it back on the road, would be disheartening.
I am absolutely floored by the amount of information, just in the stickies in the 73-79 sub-forum alone. Hacks I wish I'd of known years ago, and others restorations are super inspiring. This past winter seemed like the right time to start ripping the truck down to the frame. Half way into tearing it apart, it started to seem like a ridiculous waste of money to go down this road. Then I found this site, and I know it's ridiculous, but I'm not alone! I Hope I can turn it into my eye catching grocery getter, because I don't plan on swamping it on weekends. I would like to keep it up on 38s though.
Thanks for having me. Here's where I'm at.
