best replacement fuel pump/module

Ok, bit of background.... truck is a 1995 F250 with 19 gal front and 18 gal rear tanks. Rear tank is about 2 years old (filler neck was damaged, so replaced with new Dorman tank). 460 engine...

Since I bought the truck, have been having fuel pump issues. Lack of volume/pressure causing the truck to be pretty much undrivable. Have replaced pressure regulator, injectors, and MULTIPLE pumps in both tanks. Will run good for about a week on a new pump, and then the problem with pressure/flow returns..... Have tried multiple brands, and since Motorcraft isnt available, that is off the table.

Is there a GOOD long lasting brand of pump.module out there that I am not going to be wasting my time/money by installing? At this point, Im about to spring for the $425 Holley Sniper pump, but that is front tank only, and would require me to replumb the lines, and lose the brand new back tank. Obviously if I go similar, I can run an out of tank pump, and do whatever I want, as long as I modify the pickups to reach the bottom of the tanks as well..... I dont mind losing the dual tanks, but would prefer to keep the rear tank for obvious reasons.....

Im really getting sick and tired of dropping tanks and replacing pumps on this damn truck......

You should always use Motorcraft whenever you can, IMO.

care to share where? Every source I look at for Motorcraft, including the local dealer says discontinued and no longer available. Every other part source is just the cheap chinesium pumps that arent worth a ****. Even the name brand Carter pumps are crap (pne of those cost me a $700 tow bill when it went bad on the road.....)

F6TZ 9A407-AB [front] and F6TZ 9A407-BB [rear] are available from my supplier, Delphi, lifetime warranty [means nothing if they are junk, but Delphi is a pretty good brand].

Might be a good idea to really inspect the tank for debris if you have not actually taken the entire tank out of the truck.

Delphi ones seem to work okay for me.

Worst case, order a pumo from TI Automotive via Summit. They also make Walbro.

Heard OK things about Delphi as well, but at this point, have been burned by name brand Carter as well..... Getting real tired of aftermarket pumps that "say they work" and then dont....

is that TI a direct fit, or does it require you to change it out inside the module... Not opposed to either, but "direct fit", more or less would be ideal. I have aftermarket craptastic modules in both tanks, the OEM Ford ones were long gone when I got the truck, so the "other components arent the best either, along with the pump.

The Holley one I mentioned in the original post is a drop in module, but does not support the multi-tanks.... no cutoff on the return line to switch between them.... Not the end of the world, but am trying to check all options here....

Guess your right. Didn't see any retail sources after a quick look. Good luck. I have aftermarket units in my current truck. Trouble free for many years now. I would recommend you check for problems beyond poor manufacturing if you are having repeat module failures.

I may go with the Delphi's then (isnt Deplhi an OEM GM part supplier?) ... they appear readily available for both front and rear, and I can replace both for less than a Holley...... The front tank has been inspected, the rear tank is NEW. If I go this route, I may just replace the front tank as well, just to ensure no crap is in the tank, and frying the pumps. For the same reason, Ill also replace the whole module. having just done the pump part before, the leads are getting a bit short on the rest of the hanger.....

power is coming in, no fuel comes out.... have changed nearly everything in the system, but still lose pressure/flow, UltraPower is what I have in the truck now, and has lasted the best so far, but the pressure is fluctuating wildly from 10-35psi, with both the old and new regulator and injectors. No leaks, and holds 25ish psi when the truck is off. if you disconnect a line, it barely trickles out when the pump is jumped...... takes nearly an hour to fill a 5 gallon can, and this is pre-filter (those have been changed as well) Line does not appear crimped, but may need to be closer inspected. (that would be a relief to find, actually, a bad line....)

If Motorcraft / oem isn’t available, I’d try spectra. Delphi would be another good choice. Last spectra I used was noisy, but did not fail. You can buy a complete rear tank and FDM assembly as one. Tanks are cheap, if you have any corrosion in them, change them out.

I’ve not had much luck with after market pumps in the past either. Another member on here has been running a spectra for several yrs now.

at this point, I could care less about noisy, as long as it pumps fuel.......

TI makes just the pump, last I did was their Walbro for my C4. Works fine and bolted up like stock

My '92 and '01 F150s have Delphi units, no issues. The 01 is about four years old now.

Delphi is a supplier to many foreign and domestic manufacturers.
