so im going to be purchasing a special truck for me in the next few years and i wanted to know some things and others experience if any at all. my dad used to have a 2004 f150 he bought in 2006 with 50k on the dash, lariat crew cab long box, white exterior, factory brown bug deflector and still has the headliner rails, tan interior leather and 4x4. So i am going to buy this truck whenever the dealership sells it after they are done using it as a fuel runner, as it is getting rustier as the years go by. i was wondering if anyone has had experience swapping a 12th gen frame on these 11th gens and/or fender and bed patching as i will need to do this work to get it less rusty and clean it up. i plan on keeping the body panels as original as possible because it was my childhood vehicle and i want it just as it was, to one day give back to my father as a gift with some upgrades. another thing i would like to ask is if anyone has fit 4v heads into these 3v motors and what it would take so that it can be more reliable long term.
2 valve and 3 valve were the only heads used on the 5.4 truck engines. For a 4 valve, you would need a complete Shelby Mustang engine. I'm not so sure
there would be room for a Shelby 5.4 in 2004-2008 F150.

could ycount just use the 4v navigator engine heads, front cover and intake, possibly with ecu
You’re better served going south away from rust country to find a wrecked truck with good underpinnings.
Also, a remanned 3V 5.4 would have all the later Ford updated parts, so likely a pretty stout engine. No need to muck things up with a 10th Gen truck engine, which would need lots of hacks to make work, anyway.
just dont want the cam phasers going bad and causing issues for my father when it is given to him. i have no issues rebuilding a 3v but i just heard the 4v is much more problem free and would most likely like boost better being able to breathe better
