"Was clean" ...... That was shortly aft I got it last August and spent 3 days doing a full detail in my driveway. Now, it's covered in ice, mud, salt, sand, etc as we thaw from negative temps that hit just after having 11" of snow. But I feel the 295/70 is perfect . I average 15.1 mpg on my daily 44 mile commute with an average of 55 mph.
I'm running 35 x 12.5 x 18 on Method wheels on mine. Hopefully by the time I'm ready in 10K miles that size will be widely available.
I'm just starting to think of new tires. That's not right, I've been thinking about it for 6 months. But the Mickey Thompson Baja AT tires I have just won't wear out. They rolled over 50,000 miles and still have enough tread to probably go 60,000. But it's winter and I always seem to want as much tread as possible during snow months. Don't want to be caught hauling horses from St George up I-15 in a blizzard with marginal tires.
That Said. my choices are LT295/65r20 or the LT285/65r20 or 35x12.5r20 I have upsized my rims to 9" wide. So tires stores don't hesitate to put the 35x12.5 on for me.
I like the LT295/65 as my first choice. They come in at a true 35+ inch x11.5 size The 35x12.5 size being just under 35" but 1" wider. I think there is less hydra plane with the 11.5" tire. But with the taller tire you get almost the same surface patch .
Discount pissed me off 10-12 years ago. They pushed me into some Goodyear tires. About 16,000 miles later two of those tires failed. Big bubbles in the sidewall. Discount said. Road Hazard, you hit something on the Road. No. they are on opposite sides of the truck, Well you over loaded it. No I pulled the same trailer I've pulled for 4 years before with no problems. Any way cost me a bunch of money to buy new tires. and 6 months Later Goodyear had a recall. But they wouldn't pay me anything because I no longer had the tires.
If you don't buy the optional tire warranty from Discount, Don't expect any help if you have tire problems
I've been using Les Schwab tires ever since. I've built a pretty good relationship with the store manager and they treat me well.
@Summers22 thanks for the photos! Good looking truck!
@Painted Horse I will be getting the tires installed here but won’t be here much longer… for this reason I was thinking more towards a larger corporation that is in more places, but I don’t plan to get the protection plan from DT. For that much I would rather get a 5th tire… but given that my current spare is brand new I am inclined to just get 4 and deal with troubles by temporarily using the OE spare if they come.
Discount Tire is great and you'll be fine with them although my go to place is now Belle Tire. Great service and they stand behind everything they do. I just had a set of Michelins put on and kept my OEM spare as it's never been on the road. In hindsight, I wish I would've went with the 285's instead of the stock 275's I have now.
Also, just for kicks, here's a screenshot of the tire comparisons between the 2 sizes...
Here is the chart too. You won't have an issue with either of these sizes. 285 is alittle wider and 295 is alittle taller. I would personally go with a true 35 x 12.50 R18 if it were me. In this case, I would choose the 285/75 because I prefer more sidewall if possible.
And I would stick with the factory spare. Pull it down and inspect it - if it's good / not cracked or dry rotted and holding air, save your money.
Well, my local Discount Tire doesn't have the AT3W's any longer, and the AT4W's are "Coming Soon". Should be widely available in a few months, surely...
And, turns out they're cheaper than the AT3W, which is not bad!
Yeah, my spare is good. Never been used, less than 3 years old, no issues. That's why I was having a hard time thinking about getting a new spare when this one is still fine... besides being a little smaller.
I also saw that price on the 35x12.5's and wasn't sure but thought it wasn't too bad. It looks like the 285's will be the same price though at $394/each.
Stock suspension 2019 F250 with 295/70/18 Falken Wildpeak AT3W, I have had these tires on my last 2 trucks and can't say enough good about them. I can't wait to get the AT4W when I need a new set.
Hey @Summers22 I was reading over in the thread about changing tire sizes with Forscan and saw you had commented about the numbers to use for your 295/70/18's. When I put the info into the spreadsheet, it also shows 2643 for me. Do you remember if this is the number you ended up at? Or did you make any slight adjustments up or down? Just trying to get all my notes together for when I get mine put on! LOL...
So just to update this thread to, I ended up scoring 4 WP A/T4's in a 295/70/18 from Simple Tire. Truth be told, it was an odd process... my order was placed, then canceled, then reactivated (without me even knowing...) I can't say I was super happy with the way the transaction went, but I did end up with 4 tires. I am having them installed Wednesday morning! I went by and checked out the tires yesterday and they do look really good in person, and I can't wait to see what they look like on the truck! Also, I am planning to change the tire size via Forscan so everything is still accurate. I am also trying to figure out how to reset the TPMS low tire warning because I will likely run these a little lower. I am currently running the Wranglers at 55, and figure I would start at 55 with the WP's, but I am thinking I may end up around 50 or maybe even just a tad lower... Anyway, if you haven't already seen them in another current WP A/T4 thread, here's a pic of the tires for now... they were piled up in a storage room at the auto shop that's going to install them.
Thought I would share as I spent quite a bit of time searching threads here for new tires and rims and was on the fence between 295/70/18 and 285/75/18. Just installed 285/75/18 Falken At4w today on Alloy Ion 141 +18. All stock. Fills the wheel wheels and still just within the wells I feel. Real happy with my decision. 285/75/18 Falken At4w ; Alloy Ion 141 +18

I just put a set of same size and tire on my 2020. replaced the goodyears that made it just shy of 50k.
Haven't corrected my speedo yet.
Hey, sorry I didn't follow back up... I have spells where I'm here for a while and then gone for a while! LOL.
Anyway, I have loved the tires. I have almost 20k on them now, with about 4.5k of that towing our RV. They still perform the same today as when new. They are quiet, they are great on wet roads, they will sling some gravel (however, not too bad and my mudflaps handles that) but they do great on the gravel and dirt roads I am sometimes (but not often) on. And they look great too! I do rotate them every 5k and they still have a lot of tread left on them. I haven't measured them, but I think I will easily get 50k out of them, and wouldn't be surprised if I got 60k out of them, and is about when I am planing to replace them at this point. When it comes that time, I will very most likely go back with the same tire and size. I think the KO3's (like above) would also be a nice option, however, in the same size, the Falken's are larger, and they are less expensive. I also like the slightly wider profile than what the 285 is, and not interested in going to the 35x12.5's.
Anyway, I hope you are enjoying them also. And if you decide to change the tire size with forscan, I went from 2560 with the stock GY Wranglers to 2628 and it is about perfect!
Wow I hated the Falken Wildpeak AT3's so much I had them removed under the 1-month warranty and went back to Nitto. The Falkens were incredibly smooth and super, super quiet, and sticky in the rain, but they were super busy on the highway and sucked fuel.
I have 2 trucks and the other has Nitto's. I noticed if you shook the wheel there is a delay in response with the Falkens. You could feel it in the wheel and in the seat as a lack of tail wag versus my Nitto's that are almost instantaneously more responsive. It was very noticeable.
With the Falcons, when I would make a correction to the wheel there is a slight delay, then it moves in that direction, so to get back to center you correct again and again. On new pavement with no wear in the tire path, Falcons were fine. On worn or pitched asphalt the Falcon's wandered.
My mileage also suffered and I am not sure if it's the weight, Falkens are heavy, or if rolling resistance. Maybe that is part of what makes the ride so well. I lost at least 2 MPG. It was unbelievable.
I wanted to like the tires for the ride and quiet but the loss of economy and mostly the busy feel was too much. My son drove both trucks for a couple hours and had the same response as me.
