Ok i have a 05 f150 with a 5.4l 3v that is dieing. And i can not find the issue to fix it. i also have a 2001 f250 that has a 5.4l 2v but the frame is starting to rust apart. Question is can i take the 5.4l 2v and put it in my 05 f150?
well for the motor that is dieing or atleast i think it is. i had a misfire code on cyclinder 8 come up and the engine just stopped. So i figured since it was a misfire maybe spark plugs so i changed them all with ford plugs. truck would not turn on so i changed the coils also and still did not turn on . So figured maybe a bad injector i changed them and got to turn on. But now its just running super rich and stalls out after about 2 mins of idleing . then if i want to turn it back on i have to pull all the plugs and clear all the cyclinder to make sure there is no fuel built up on them so i dont damage anything inside.
What are the codes you are getting?
There is a good chance the engine itself is fine but there is something telling your system to dump all that fuel in.
last code i remember was for the misfire and issue with injector 8. i dont have the accual codes on hand cause they got cleared when i removed the battery to work on the injectors and coils. And now since it does not run longer then 2 mins i will probably not get another code cause i am sure 2 mins is not enough time to get it to trigger in the computer.
Just because you dont see check engine light on, doesnt mean it hasnt stored any codes, if it was that rich, could have code for O2 saying rich condition, have you checked O2's? miles on truck?
