I'm not any help on the part number but I will say. Shewwww at those prices. I would buy a core motor off marketplace and rob the front cover off of it and sell the rest. You can get them all day long around here for under 300 bucks.

My cost from Ford was $498.00. But Ford may never see this part again..
For your 2001 Excursion, the appropriate Navistar part number is 1831737C92.
I saw your post on the X forum, Thank You.
I will research that Navistar part number and see what I get. There are a couple local International/Navistar dealers I can call.
3 different part numbers now, and from online images, they all look the same. It's possible something has superseded..
I talked to a few Navistar dealers, and my new Ford dealer this morning. Seems my new Ford dealer needs to beat into submission, he hastily entered the wrong part number for the cover yesterday at closing time and came up with the not avail. He revisited things this morning as it turns out there are a few at dealers in the country, beyond that the part is discontinued. The Navistar kit part number that Y2KW57 directed me to is the correct and current number, I also verified with a Navistar parts dealer in Ohio this morning, he did a reverse search using the Ford part number, but that Navistar number is showing as a restricted part! "Only to be sold through Ford" The other Navistar kit part number of 1831736C92 returns a different part number for the "cover" contained in the kit than the cover part number in the 36C92 assembly, and after speaking to a Navistar dealer again, if the 2 covers have 2 different part numbers, they will be different. These part numbers are referred to as kits because they contain more than one part, IE: the dowel pins.
I've highlighted in bold the "other Navistar kit part number" exactly as you typed it in your quote below, because I suspect that somewhere along the way there is a discrepancy in the suffix.
Try 1831736C91 instead.
(While 1831737C92 is correct, 1831736C92 may or may not be, whereas 1831736C91 is more likely to be, despite the "Source One" listing you posted in the other thread.)

Some front timing cover "kits" included the compendium of gaskets required to seal them.
Ford also offered a separate gasket kit (Basic Part 6020).
I ordered the gaskets separately from my dealer. I'm on standby to see what happens with the dealer. He did a voluntary "Emergency" order through Ford. According to him, Ford buys the part from a given dealership at a higher rate than the dealer to dealer rate possibly encouraging the selling dealer to let their stock go, and I guess in turn sells back to my dealer.
Unfortunately in addition to no inventory, the 1831737C92 is marked as restricted to sell by Navistar dealers. As far as the 36C92 I am unable to find any clarity if it's an exact match to the 37C92. The 36C91 you suggested is not a valid # with Navistar.
I am registered to use Repair Link, which ties into the dealer subscribed parts lookup and parts locator. It's the most comprehensive identifier I have seen avail to the general consumer. I have seen accessories, and other parts that I never knew were offered for the Excursion, from battery heaters to seat back organizers to bike/surf board hitch racks.
This issue is resolved, the dealer pulled through. The emergency order program worked too. Thanks for the help, now to make an early X-Mas list of things I'd like to refresh when I pull the motor down the road, before they're impossible to get.
Please post a clear CLOSE UP photo of the International Part number embossed on the casting of the timing cover you received from Ford.
I somehow thought you'd ask that, I did glance at it, thought it looks nothing like the previous numbers we've been throwing back and forth, and moved on. But, I will capture it tomorrow in pic form, and post.
