Ok, truck is running good now after months of figure out the bugs, now I'm just doubling down on the little things. I was wondering do these trucks have an indicator for your high beams on the dash or something? I know if I have one it doesn't work, but I haven't really read much of anyone having one. Just want some quick answers, thanks!
From your instrument panel the plug that carries the circuit for the high beam lamp is circuit 34 according to the Ford EVTM and is pin number six in your plug if your instrument cluster has guages.
It's very common for the plastic backing of the cluster to crumble & fall apart where the high beam bulb locks in. When this happens, the contacts on the bulb holder no longer make good contact with the printed circuit. Then the bulb won't light when the high beams are on.
You can replace the cluster housing with a reproduction, & swap all your cluster parts over to the new housing.
You may be able to re-enforce the housing with a thin layer of epoxy, & put it back together.
It may be a bad bulb.
It may be dirty contacts on the bulb holder. Clean the contacts & reinstall, see if the bulb lights. It helps to bend the contacts out a little so they make better contact with the printed circuit.
The copper trace on the PC for the high beam bulb may be dirty & need to be polished. I use Deoxit & fine steel wool.
Take the cluster out & start cleaning & testing things.
