2019 Electrical issue
2019 Electrical issue
Good morning all! About a month ago I updated from a 2006 to a 2019 F-250. One of the issues the truck came with was an intermittent "trailer fault" warning. Did a google search and learned it was usually caused by water in the connectors at the back of the frame. The corrective action suggested was to apply dielectric grease. So last night I disconnected the connectors, which were in fact full of water, blew them dry with compressed air, applied the dielectric grease, and reassembled. This morning on the way to work I have a plethora of new electrical issues. The front windows will not go down but the rear windows work fine. The radio power button will not turn the radio on, but I am able to turn the radio on with the SYNC 3 touch screen. The door unlock button on the door does not work, but do work using the key fob. Climate control (heat) will not turn on. I now have no tire pressure monitoring. I get a Tire pressure fault and just get -- on all the display for all 4 tires. I also have no rear turn signals... but Hey, that pesky Trailer fault is gone!
While I had the truck in my garage I also installed a winch. I did disconnect the battery while work was performed.
My assumption is that I introduced these new problems with the dielectric grease in the connecters. When I get home from work today I plan to put the truck back in the garage and disconnect and clean the grease from those plugs. I'm wondering if anyone else encountered this problem as it seams the trailer fault was a common issue?
