transmission mount?

I have a 94 Ranger 2wd 4.0L with the 5 speed. When im going down the road if I decide to give it gas suddenly the drivetrain Thuds. Here is the odd part I replaced the origional mount a few months after I got the truck. I later noticed the problem was still there and believing that I had a junk mount I bought another. Thease mounts seem really flexable to me compared to some other designs I have seen. So thats 2 new mounts in 2 years with no difference in the thud. The U joints check out ok. Anyone got any ideas?

Yup. Grease the drive shaft slip yoke.

Do a search on that and you'll see it is a fairly common problem that is easily (and cheaply) remedied.

Ok ill give greasing the slip yoke a try. I had read of doing it before but only saw it in reference to 4wd and long wheel base trucks with the carrier bearing.

I think it’s only a band aid for a drive train that moves too much. Ford definitely screwed this one up on an otherwise good truck.
