wheel question..... answered
For a long time, I've carried a Ford 5 on 5.5 wheel with tire for a spare. It's a 15x5.5" wheel, even stamped 5.5 next to the valve stem. It has nice round nut holes, it looks fine, but it has a 3-1/4" hub hole.
I have the original spare that was under the tank in 1986, it too has 5.5 stamped next to the stem. It has a very cracked H78-15 tire ... and old air. I was comparing them, this original wheel has the larger 4" hub hole. I see why I likely didn't use it, some of the lug holes look like they were run under loose nuts at some time ... before 1986. Some are elongated a hair. I've had wheels on and off a few times, I know that my studs are fine.
I may have resolved this issue years ago ... and just forgot. Is the
I know, best way is try it, and I will first chance if any smidgeon of doubt lingers ... but it's like 26 out there, and it snowed all day. If you know, you know. I think it's fine.
I wish I had held onto those 15x7 eight spoke wagon wheels that got away years ago.
Update: I measured the hub, it's straight, no taper, it is right at 3-3/8" OD. The wheel with the 3-7/16" center hub hole will go over it.

I can imagine. I am gonna build a cover IF I put one back in the box, both to protect it from sun, and to prevent nesting critters and leaves piling up inside. I have a still new 31" tall tire in the shed, covered up.
I did today what I should have done 30 years or more ago ... (and maybe I did)?
I measured the hub and the wheel hub hole, the hub is straight, with no taper, it is right at 3-3/8" OD so the wheel with the 3-7/16" center hub hole will go over it.
