What is causing this horrible gasping noise when I shut off my RV (please see video). Vehicle is a 94 F53 motorhome, 7.5L, 50K miles, with headers. Belts and tensioner are new.
Thanks for the reply, I'll give that a try. The "pump" is a new air conditioner. The smog pump took a dump years ago and has been disconnected (pulley removed) I wonder if it might be part of that plumbing, like a vacuum canister maybe.

I suspect that it's your brake booster making the noise, and the simple disconnecting of the vac lines will confirm that, or rule it out. Could also be that new ac compressor, to which I'd say - start it up, and then immediately shut it off. Do that a few times, if the noise is there consistently under those quick start and shutoff conditions, then remove the serpentine belt and see if it happens. If not, then its the ac compressor.
Not exactly sure what causes that but they sure all do it
My 351 1994 van does it real bad if you consider that bad
I consider it normal and have never thought what might be causing it
I doubt it is the booster because they hold their vacuum when you shut the engine off
Those intake pipes are a kind of resonator
The sudden airflow loss of turning off the engine may cause the gasp noise through that resonator?
Maybe the IAC port is making the noise?
