Difference between 2.7 vs 3.5

I have a 2018 F150 3.5 Eco, and I'm looking to trade it in. There are several 2.7 trucks locally, and I'm concerned about the potential power drop. I do occasionally tow a 7500lb trailer easily with the 3.5. Are there any drawbacks to the 2.7?

The 2.7 should do all you need it to. Lots of happy owners of that engine.

7500 lb trailer is within the range for the 2.7eb. It will get better mileage in general purpose runs as well.

What will be a sticking point is that the 3.5-equipped truck will have heavier suspension unless you have a 2.7 model with the payload package that gets you a 9.75” rear. Even then, I’m not sure it gets underpinnings ultimately as stout as a 3.5 model.

For any load, I want as much counterweight as I can get in an F150.
