I am so happy that I just had to share some good news for once here. I have been working on the prepping of my 79 f150 for painting , for 7 months now. I couldnt find anyone local that would paint a "restore" so I learned what I know about painting/bodywork, from the boards here, and others on the net . What a job!, Ive worked all kinds of constuction work in my life, but have never got this tired of a project. It is a two tone bc/cc metallic urethane (awful lot of masking and cleaning!) I started spraying at 6pm sat. and come out of the garage at 8.30 am this sun morning. I about fell over from exhaustion, but thank God its over ! What a good day ! Now, I can colorsand and start putting this puppy back together, that I started on FOUR years ago! . whoopee !!!!!!
thanks Theo,
yep, owner beware, do it yourself restorer/painting is something I would never do again, it took a toll on me cause am too old (51) to tackle something that big, and just didnt know it, until I started it. Then its a oops, gotta do it now, cant stop here type of thing,
Like Theo said, I hope ya got some informative pics and such !
I have pic'd the whole job from day one, just to pictorally remind myself to never do it again I guess When I get it put back together I'll put new pics in my gallery. I will put some of the project "before" in there this week hopefully,
It was pretty sharp looking before - I can't wait to see it now!
Yep Ct, thats what my wife kept telling me after I started taking it apart. She said " I dont see whats wrong with it, its just a TRUCK !!, Now 4 years later, a tired body, and with pockets SEVERAL grand lighter, boy , I wish I had listened to her and left it alone,
You may say that now but I think that you will find that the longer you enjoy her the better you will feel about her, the truck that is. Again Congrats, its like having a brand new truck only better..
