I was down at the Depot and saw Husky had a pretty decent set of air tools for $99. Impact wrench (250 ft/lbs), Air ratchet (50ft/lbs), air hammer, blow gun, paint sprayer, and some impact sockets.
Has anybody used Husky air tools? Is this a good deal? Are the tools decent?
Matt
for the m,ost part thay arent that bad at all. i use husy air tools every day but i use there 90 degree grinder, air saw i have had to take back my grinder a few times but for 40 bucks its not a bad deal and they have a lifetime warranty. i would say go for it
My $369.00 Husky Air Compressor is made by Campbell Hausfeld. I imagine those air tools are too! I'd see if they are identical to the ones at Wal Mart, and then compare the prices. Incidentally, the air regulator quit working onthat compressor after about two hours. Nearest "authorized" repair center is 40 miles away, and required I leave the compressor -which I'd have to figure out how to get there-for a couple weeks. This place had compressors strewn all over the place, and was pretty seedy looking. They would not exchange the regulator in my hand, even with the sales ticket. The Depot where I bought it wouldn't touch it. I ended up buying another brand regulator and replacing it myself. Since then, the automatic pressure shutoff has quit working, so now I'll have to adjust that myself...seeing how I violated the machine while working on it myself in the first place. 'should have bought that Sears two stage I was looking at instead!
I have that same set. It's kind-of OK. Couldn't get the lug nuts off the truck with the impact, most of the time. Most other bolts that I needed to take off were usually too tight for that too. I ended buying one from Sears - POWER...
Any tools that go bang bang cheap usually isnt good. Round and round isnt so bad. CP or IR for impacts and chisels and Sears is nominal at best. Usually built by the cheapest contractor.
ive got air tools from snap-on and i got no name air tools from
harbor frieght that i abuse everyday for the last two years and have not had a problem with. as long as you take good care of
em and oil them like your suppose to you should have good luck with them.
as far as air ratchets go, i have had bad luck with both husky and Campbell Hausfeld. both have stripped out after about a year or so. Finally put down the cash and went with a snap on air ratchet. So far so good. real good.
i do agree with superstroker heavily used air tools and tools for heavy duty jobs do need to be better. but as for rarley used tools such as air nibblersand shears i have cheap no namers and they work fine. my ratchets are matco and snap on.best and worst thing to happen to me is the matco truck comes by the fire department and they have a get now pay weekly plan, it kills me.
