Pulled my windshield to fix a leak and come to find out over half of the sealing area was rusted pretty bad. I decided while I was there I should go ahead and clean everything on the sealing flange off and down to bare metal. I’m going to use Eastwood rust encapsulater as the primer and then paint to match. My question is should I paint where the windshield will seal or would it seal better to the primer?
I had my windscreen installed a week ago now the whole cab had been resprayed prior to that and the guys who installed it paint around painted area (where the sealant will sit) with their own primer with a small roller, so I would guess it's a personal preference but they did give me one piece of advice and that was not to paint the sealing area with raptor liner as they had recently installed a windscreen on a vehicle with that done and they said the first time it rained he rang up complaining that it leaked really bad so they had to redo it again and the same thing happened so they won't guarantee it if it is going of liner.
I have a leaking windshield, I noticed water drip on my hand on the steering wheel, it seems to be running along the top inner trim. Would it be ok to put a bead of silicone along the top outside of the windshield to seal it off?
Thanks for the heads up, I will speak to the shop when I have mine fixed. They will do the metal work there and probably have someone come out to install the glass.
Mine also drops there @Junktownbill99 drop that and remove the exterior trim, you will find corrosion. Pretty common on these in wet areas, mine has been a Texas gulf coast truck since new. Corpus first then Houston since I bought in the late 90s.

is there any way to quickly fix this? Like, no tools, no garage fix? I don't want my first truck to rot away because I was negligent in fixing it.
It has some frame rust, being from crater lake area, but not a single body hole, or really any body rust at all. I got it last year from Lebanon Oregon, (i assume it wasn't there all that long due to its story)
Not that I am aware of my man. I would start by eyeballing what you have with the windshield trim removed and go from there...that trim collects dirt and leaves like no other. There is specific windshield glue, etc that maybe you can patch it up. Perhaps a local glass shoppe can tell you further.

Hmm, ok I'm considering paying Safelite to replace the windshield, (cracked when I got it) so it may fix the leak as well. Honestly $260 is not too bad, considering the other option, I order windshield, go buy or order tools, and figure it out myself. But after shipping and gas, I'd probably end up paying more, AND I wouldn't get a warranty.

ISSUE The customer may report a water leak from the windshield. This may be caused by a skip or a void in the production sealer somewhere around the periphery of the windshield.
ACTION Apply a bead of Liquid Butyl Sealer (F8AZ-19554-CA) under the weatherstrip around the periphery of the windshield. Refer to the appropriate Service or Workshop Manual for weatherstrip removal where necessary.
NOTE
DUE TO DIFFICULTY IN DETERMINING THE EXACT LOCATION OF A WATER LEAK, IT MAY BE IDEAL TO SEAL THE ENTIRE WINDSHIELD PERIPHERY (SIDES, TOP AND BOTTOM) TO ENSURE REPAIR OF THE LEAK.
