A member asked if could do a drawing of the mirror bracket for the '48-52 truck. I don't know if this is the same bracket used on the later models. Anyways, I figure I should post it here for others to use. It may not be exact down to the ten thousandths but it pretty close.
EDIT: added the spacer cup dimensions and carriage bolt and acorn nut.
Bob, in 53 Ford put a slit in the door covered by a rubber plug at the factory. If the dealer or buyer wanted mirrors the rubber plug was pulled and a thick mirror bracket came through the door slot which the Ford mirror arm was connected to. This worked quite well. The mirrors on my trucks do not vibrate at all.
Bob,
Thanks for posting that. I remember your thread about fabbing your own and its bee on my "to do" list for quite some time. I'm running one of those little peep mirrors and it's not worth a dang
BETTER yet have a drawing on a different mirror arm to install a LARGER mirror head the round mirrors aftermarket SUCK for 1953-55 F-100--- can not believe nobody came up with a BETTER design-- Thanks

That's because those mirrors were not designed for 53-56 trucks. They were first used in 1957.
I have emailed Dennis Carpenter with pictures and the exploded diagram asking if they could reproduce the stock mirrors. Of course they said they could not. If they see enough demand then maybe they could realize a profit
I guess the best way to do this would be to contact a manufacturer in China to copy the original s.
The 53+ door bracket is reproduced from several different manufacturers. I found at least 3 different examples in a quick search, all for under $20, and they're universal, left and right. There's no point in reinventing that wheel, imho. The 48-52 bracket wraps around the upper door hinge, and is different for left and right. (Dare I say, they're mirror images ) The right side mirror was very rare, and that bracket is in unobtanium status. Bob had a thread years ago where he created the buck and the part from scratch. Even if you had the bracket, getting the door hinge pin out to install the bracket could be a futile effort, as the difficulty to do that has been well documented. Then, if you manage to get that far, you still need the inner round brackets that grip the round tube mirror arm inside the main bracket. Being a Bonus Built guy isn't an easy life.
Correct in 1957 used the round mirror head set-up and is way to small -- looking for mirror head in Chrome like in Abe 's picture to REPLACE 53-55 after market mirror head but use after market arm that is fasten to bracket base that goes thru door-------
I revised my drawing with the cup and the carriage bolt used. When I made mine I used engine block casting plugs, freeze plugs, you can buy at any McParts store.
Here is a step by step procedure I used, I forgot I had it on my website.
I can't do a drawing of the later bracket because I don't have one to get measurements from.
Here are pictures of the mirror arm bracket that goes in the door slot of 53 and newer trucks.
53-55: holes are in a straight line
1956 bracket, holes are located in a diagonal line
1957 and up: There are four threaded mounting holes
after market door bracket sold by Dennis Carpenter, notice the extra holes to fit the door slot screws of 53-55. Again Carpenter, Mid Fifty, Midwest Early Ford and others are in the business to make money, not provide a correct stock piece.
