Are the 2.7 litre engines as susceptible to failing manifold gaskets as the bigger v8 engines. My last 3 trucks, two 5.4 litre and a 6.2 litre all has the gaskets fail within 5 years and were replaced under warranty. My 2.7 is coming up on 6 years old and it it’s getting loud. No warranty left. Either the manifold gaskets or maybe the exhaust gaskets. I didn’t have it checked out yet. I also need another new oil base pan, it will be the third time it was replaced, and with another expensive repair like those gaskets, I’m wondering if I should cut my losses and trade it while it’s still worth something. And I don’t think it will be another Ford. lol
I truly feel your pain, just don't think the grass is greener on the other side, everything built is the same anymore. The oil pan, seems if it is done correctly, it lasts. I'd question the shop / dealer doing the work. Manifold gaskets, can happen to any vehicle. Don't get me wrong, I am often the one with the slingshot pointed at Ford, look at GM and Ram forums, they have their issues too. Good luck, I hope whatever you choose works best for your situation.
I definitely think it was a dealer issue with the base pan. In and out in 5-6 hours. No leaving it overnight for curing. Unfortunately no warranty now so I’m left holding bag. Thanks for the reply.
