Help please

Hi everyone.
just wondering if anyone knows what the solenoid in the pic is.
Looks like it has not been connected for some time.

Cheers in advance

Can you get a picture from a different angle, perhaps, from the side?
I don’t recognize it at all, but if that is an electrical connection on top with the nuts, it’s probably just a fuel selector valve. Switches between two tanks.
Does your truck have two tanks, or just one?

And frankly, if it’s a tank switching valve, it would have three hose connections. If it’s got just two, then, perhaps it’s a shut off valve instead.
But from this angle, I don’t think I’ve ever seen one like that.

Solenoid?

It looks like a temperature sender that may have been for transmission cooling.

If that's the only odd piece, it will be hard to guess. Looks like your truck was set up to transfer some liquid for some reason.

Is that a pulley on the driver side of the engine? What does it do?

All I can add is that it's not original.

If it is indeed a solenoid, perhaps it was part of an anti-theft, fuel shut-off system.

Looks like simple plumbing fittings. Maybe the thing on top is an electrical sensor, like Kenny was saying, threaded into a reducer bushing, threaded into a standard T-fitting.

Some sort of sensor. Not a solenoid.
