95 f250 shifting way too early

Hello, ive been looking to find the answer to this question, I have a 94/95/96 f250 that no matter what in 4h or 4l, shifts wayyy too early, im in overdrive by 30mph or so in 2h for example. has new vss, tps, iss/oss, & lots of other misc. new parts. it keeps hunting for the next gear way too early whether im on it or not. Only thing I can think of last is the 4wd low switch is stuck, but I cannot find a replacement anywhere... Any help is appreciated, Thanks!

Did you get a code for any of those parts or are you throwing the parts cannon at the problem? What is an iss/oss? What transmission is in your ‘94/95/96 Johnny Cash F-250? Did this problem just start?

You can de-pin pin #12 from the ECU connector. That'll remove any 4wd-lo signal from the ECU. Pretty easy to do with a screwdriver and 10 minutes.

Truck is in need of lots of various parts, iss/oss is the speed sensors on the transmission/tcase. trans is a e40d i believe, no kickdown linkage on throttle. it randomly just started one day and never stopped.

Awesome thank you! I will give that a try!, do they remake the 4wd lo switch?

Are you going to check for fault codes or do you want to keep guessing at what is happening?

You aren’t getting the system pass code 111 either? What about the engine running test?

The 4R100 has those sensors, the E4OD does not.

I also believe the pcm is crap because it seems to not want to give codes, and if it does give codes, the circuit its talking about has nothing to do with the trans. Ill check again and disconnect the cables then touch em togehter and clear the system then drive it around manually for a bit and check again for ya, but everytime ive checked the codes so far, they have not been correlating with the actual issue, truck is infact a hacked mess of 5 trucks so... And I did pull the whole trans harness and check for shorts, along with the the main pcm harness, all fuses good, pcm looks usable but aged.

How can one easily identify between the two? I was told they were pretty much identical minus the kickdown linkage, im not a ford guy by any means.

I got a actual ford obd1 scanner, a few times I got it to work on the 7 pin connector by the drivers fender/firewall, but the ground was not good and a few wires were corroded so I went and fixed all that, but even after all that, it still does not seem to give codes relating to the issue for some reason. if anyone can give me a copy of the pinout/wire coding for the obd1 port so I can double check thatd be swell!

I have also heard that there is a mini computer board inside these trans that go bad and leak trans out the connector, mine did have some trans fluid around the drivers side connector but the trans has only 70k miles on it, could it possible of still failed? either way thanks yall for the help, ill fafo tonight and report tommorrow, Thanks!

The easiest way to tell them apart is that the 4R100 has speed sensors on top and the E4OD does not. Neither one had a kickdown linkage.

Not true.

The trans connector can leak, but it isn't from a computer inside the trans.

Okay so heres my update folks, I got the code reader to actually properly function and got the following: 552, 633, 637. I clipped the blue #12 wire for the 4lo and its actually shifting better and nowhere near as early, but its still sorta shifting like crap like its trying to find a gear, could the transmission just be relearning? and 633 was a active code before I snipped. Thanks for the help yall!
