I just put in S&B mounts, did passenger side first with just the thin shim on top, torqued it down took it for a drive (done for the day), it ended up settling about 1/4*. Next day, did drivers side, added the 1/4" shim to it and the passenger side, torqued it, drove it retorqued it, passenger side is good drivers side is high about 1/4"+. I also noticed after the fact that the PO had put about 1/4" shim under both sides of the bed where it meets the cab. So now things are whack. If I remove bed shims ( which I kind of want to do because now that the cab is quiet, I hear the bed popping and banging). So even if I take the shims out from under the bed and out from the cab mounts, drivers side will still be up 1/4"+. This is a long way of saying, is it normal for L and R sides to need different spacers, the bed I guess could be tweaked. I also thought I might just replace the janky steel shims the PO used with some of the nice plastic spacers that came with the S&B and retorque the bed.
Subscribing. I've had my S&B mounts sitting in the box for over a year. Kinda dreading the installation for some reason.
The leveling has been the most annoying part., shimming then re shimming..and dealing with moving the tank. Really should take about 5-6 hours alone.
I was literally just outside wondering if I wanted to tackle it now. I removed the shims that the PO put in at the bed bolt nearest cab (unless they do this at the factory, stamped, slotted shims). This actually cut down on some of the noise I could now hear from back there when going over bumps. The PS is just a hair high on the body line, the DS is close to 3/8". I am going to remove the 1/4" DS body mount shim and just live with it. I think it strange each side having a different amount of spacers, but I guess that's the way it has to be.
