I am getting ready to purchase a 2000 F350 SRW 4x4. Being a twenty-three year old vehicle, I know some rust underneath is expected. It is a Tennessee truck, so I am hoping that it hasn’t seen a whole lot of salt. The truck has seen a lot of sitting time, so I am assuming by looking underneath it, that what I saw was mainly surface rust. The truck body is mint as has absolutely zero rust, and besides one small spot of clear coat peeling by the driver’s side window, it is immaculate. I wish that I took pictures when I looked at it the other day, but I did not. Sorry. Appreciate any feedback. Thanks in advance.
Cab corners, bottom of the doors/rockers. If the body is mint I doubt you'll have any concerns underneath but just have a look around, shackles, inside the frame rails where your lines run. Surface rust is normal, flaking should be investigated/probed further. Rust will start/come out in the wheel wells too front and rear. Any flares should be suspected of possibly hiding rust.
