I am on my second Dennis Carpenter headlight switch with problems. The first one I received one of the tabs broke off while fastening wire.(they sent me another one)The second one I have in truck for some reason the the **** comes all the way out sometimes?I have tried a new **** and still sometimes when pulled out it slides all the way out?I am about ready to go NOS and give up on this China stuff!Has anyone else had this issue with the **** not latching? This is on my stock 1952 F-1.
Does it have to be stock ? Aftermaket parts store / box store universal headlight switchs are OK. The **** screws off to install so no rod with notch to slip.
Dennis Carpenter. Has some good parts but I stopped buying electrical from them. Try another vender. OKC Obsolete In Oklahoma City. I know my 55 is another animal, totally different. Your stock switch does not have the springer clip that holds the **** shaft.AJ
I thought all the suppliers probably sold the same China switch.Yes my switch does have the small springer button underneath to release shaft.Problem is it does not hold sometimes when **** is pulled?
Sure I have rotated the ****.I mean you have to rotate **** to adjust gauge brightness?I thought one shaft was inserted you should be able to turn **** where ever you wanted it and it should not come out without pushing the release button?
Okay there is a pointed tip on the control rod and a insert that sets in the spring. File the pointed tip just a little. It doesn’t take very much also the rod has maybe a flat that runs the full length on the shaft. Some don’t but most do have the flat side. When you file the tip just do small amounts just needs that point tip removed AJ
