Timken, sorry to here about your injury. It's kinda like the old Castrol Oil commercial said you can pay me now or pay me later. Medical Insurance is no longer an option. Check out the local Co-Op or Credit Union most all offer some kind of insurance.
And Theo... You want to explain that superficial groin wound ?????

I wish, I have not got the doc bill yet ,he's waiting to see how much I pay of the hospital bill, that 's what they do, My mother was told to wait to see how much of the bill for my granny's stay was going to be paid by her insur. company and when they paid all they were going to then and only then should she pay the doc's bill,he usually would lower the amount.

I have never shot my self anywhere, I get other people to do it for me..
It costs many thousands of dollars to get everything mended... and leaves a very interesting, and terribly private scar.. I have pictures for those with gruesome interest and a strong stomach.... but I think I would get banned if I posted them..

added on edit:
I became engaged in a firefight with some very anti social persons, who decided to increase the fire rate as I jumped backwards over a low wall, me parallel to the deck.. as I hit the ground, my posterior rose somewhat, into the path of a 9mm round that was in a hurry. It entered just missing the *******, and slid under the skin, doing some damage, exiting where the sun don't shine. The tubing in that area is kind of complex, and having a chunk of lead cutting it up needs costly repair work.. It only took about 4 hours to fix it, but boy, that was a very worrisome 4 hours, because I did not know exactly what had been hit. The medics looked worried, so I was too.. But it did not do any lasting damage, other than a really cool scar that I can't show off. I am glad I was not in the US Marines, I would have been Way Too Embarrassed to receive the Purple Heart for that wound.. (my unit got told off for getting hit, not awarded medals. )

What did you get shot with?
I wouldn't mind seeing the scar. I can stomach alot....
So if you want to email me... do so thru the forum and i'll send you my email back.
(sorry, im kinda interested in wounds)
Well I would take the top of hotels and motel where the pool area is covered on all 4 sides with rooms and the pool area is opened and close it in with a roof that can open and close. Now I build and install awning and carports and when I'm not doing that I build steel homes.
I would call the hospital and offer to pay them the same $ amount for the items/services that they would accept from an insurance company. Be firm with them and stick to your guns. My understanding is that when this is proposed the hospital often goes along with it, but most people are just to ignorant or lazy to try this and prefer instead to pay the full amount.

Emergency rooms are not cash cows for hospitals. What you helped pay for was the ones who could not pay that the ER was required to treat.

dono, what you need to understand is I am one of the ones that cannot pay like I would like to. I am self employed, broke most of the time after bills get paid. Like a lot of people when I was younger I stayed busy doing pretty much what I wanted to do and did not think far enough ahead in the matters of getting older and what I would do if something bad would happen(at least more than has happened). If everyone on this forum could have the most and best insurance money could buy then we would not have much to talk about (at least as far as the trucks are concerned)because we would all be able to go to the dealership to have them worked on. I really don't have much to complain about,I have a roof over my head, clothes to wear and food to eat and share if I need to. Being self employed I don't get to get a raise every year or six months like most people and all the tax breaks the pol. make do not do a bit of good to people like me.
Get with them and work out a payment plan. Figure it is retroactive insurance payments. It still probably comes out a lot cheaper than if you had been paying for insurance.
Torque1st, yea I know it's just really bad timing now with the holidays and all. They said they would give me a discount but I had to pay in full, no payments. With the holidays coming up I'm just tapped out. Plus its getting cold around here and I'm still not ready for winter.
back in ash wendsday of this yr me and my sis in law fliped my truck goin 70 mph on the high way 17 stiches on her head and all the bs*** ran the bill up to 32gs lol thats dwn in the devils ******* texas these ppl are money hungry
oddly enof i wrk for the ambulance company that picked us up now lol and they charged 2300 for a 4 mile ride and the prep for the doc
