Bottom line is, FoMoCo shocks and batteries are trash.
I replaced the shocks including the stabilizer at 20k miles. Very nice improvement for under $500. They are still performing well at 85k miles. Replaced the battery too after 2 years on a garage kept truck. Embarrassing when Wal Mart sells a better battery than Ford installs in the trucks, at least it should be...

Need to check my fronts...during our long trip I was not happy with the way they reacted to rough spots on the highway. Way less than 10k miles on them at the time.

Removing FX4 shocks and installing Bilstein 5100's

Now that my '22 F-350 is at 50,000 miles, I'm removing the OEM FX4 shocks and installing Bilstein 5100's with their steering stabilizer as well. The FORD shocks allow my wheels to dribble like basketballs 🏀 🫨. I'm not fond of the saggy rear springs either, so I bought an Air Lift 7500XL and an on board air compressor and tank.

fox 2.0 costs under 700 dollars for retail customers. I doubt OEM would pay half that in quantity.
I've read a ton of good reviews in these, but looks like they have urethane bushings. Do these shocks really have
ZERO, and I mean ZERO increase in any NVH??

I'm happy enough with trucks dynamics, especially towing which is 1000 times better than my 05 Dodge, but the
ride quality is way harder than that Dodge was. I will keep stock shocks all day long if aftermarket is even 1% "worse"
in any way related to ride quality/vibration/noise transmission, etc...

Yeah the OEM shocks aren’t known for great quality. Run some bilstein 5100 or 4600 if you tow often or Rancho RS7MT if towing/hauling isn’t a big priority (bit softer).

If you want to dial it in, also get a fox IFP steering stabilizer.

You can also do Fox 2.0 shocks if you want to spend a little more on a better product that works a little better. But the 3 I mentioned work just great for those intended purposes.

I would document via photos and video the odometer and leaky shock on the truck incase you have any warranty issues later. Maybe call and ask how long dealer service will take and document that too, not worth leaving your truck for a week…

@Painted Horse How are the Falcon shocks? I looked but just got some Rancho RS7MT as I needed black Shocks because I powder coated my front springs a hammered look gold and black.

Factory shocks are likely the softest you will find. All of the others are designed to improve wheel control which often results in a bit firmer ride.

Larger tires at lower pressures is where it is at for daily driven miles. Going from the 70/80 stickered numbers for the stock 275/65-18 down to 48/42 with 285/75-18 129 load rated tires makes all the difference.

Thanks, I was 99% sure this was true, as I've used pretty much every aftermarket off-road or performance shock there is over the years.
They were always in some way, at least a bit worse in NHV. Have done the lower pressure and otherwise, don't like to deviate much from stock
on vehicles I plan on getting ext warrantee on. Just gives dealers reasons to not cover stuff.

Assume I can warrantee this out, being under 12K/1Yr. At least they used to warrantee "wear" items in the first year.

x2, stock shocks are absolute garbage! I love the truck, but the shocks were the first thing I replaced. I went with Fox 2.0s and have been very happy with the swap.

We can't change physics. With little or no load sitting on springs that are supposed to support another 2500-4000+ lbs of payload in addition to the vehicle. something literally has to give and in this case it's the tires.

That will be an easy warranty approval up till 3yr/36k miles. By going with aftermarket shocks you will get a more controlled ride, better performance, likely longer life and by simply changing out the shocks does not give the dealer any reason to deny any other warranty.

Don’t get me wrong I’ve loved ford my whole life and still wouldn’t drive anything else but Woth every super-duty I’ve owned it blows my
mind on the stupid **** ford does to save $.25 per truck. For example no transmission dip stick or effing drain bolt on the tranny pan. Cheap shocks. Cheap brakes. They take **** away like hood insulation for sound. A light under the hood. I get all that **** adds up but the price goes up every what 3 months and every job or year something else goes away. Hell we don’t even get spring loaded cup holders in the back of the console anymore. Or lighted cup holders like they used to.

I hear you all on quality shocks. Have had remote reservoir Bilstein's on my offroad rig for years. Spent $3400 on 2 way adj coilovers for my track car.
Not against spending money on suspensions, I just don't need anything more than stock on this truck.

Now if these things continue to blow out this often, I guess I'll have to get something else.
