I had a coolant flush done, after 500 miles the coolant in reservoir went down 1". Then the next 500 miles it went down another 1". Will a pressure leak down test with dye tell me why? If the air was never bleed out will it do this? Thank you guys for answering every time. I have been using this site since the 90's.
2001 f150 4.2
Are you seeing any signs of leakage? The system is designed to rid it itself of air. The 4.2 system is pretty basic. The level you see in the bottle is the level in the engine and radiator. If you park on a slope you could get a different reading than on level ground.

Why did you have the coolant flush done?
No leaks any where. Seemed to happen after flush. Did a flush because I didn't know when it was last done. Parked in the same place every time.
I'd do a few more 500 mile cycles and see if it keeps happening. Check your oil and make sure you don't have a headgasket leak. If not a few more miles won't hurt anything.

There's nothing in the oil. I was wounding about adding dye to coolant to see if there a leak.
