Door pockets

Saw these online and thought someone may be interested... not mine. I know how hard these are to find, and nobody seems to repop white ones.

Unfortunate that Bob Drake refuses to make them in any color other than black. Also, the zippers that Drake uses, best I can tell, are plastic instead of brass like the originals.

I’d like to have a pair, instead of the one NOS very pale gray one that I found on the Bay, and white would be ideal. I suppose someone might buy those from the guy, separate the front zippered sections, and re-staple them onto a set of the repopped pockets. Now we’re talking real money . Most of the used originals I’ve seen on eBay have chunks of plastic missing from the pocket section, and missing or cracked/broken trim surrounds. I have not seen any NOS ones available for some years now.

NOTE: Well, I lied, there is one NOS black one for sale that l’d forgotten about.https://www.ebay.com/itm/37510471615....c100667.m2042

Mine seem to be getting harder to open and close the zipper. I sprayed them with a tiny bit of silicone and no luck. My point is to be careful and find a way to maintain them if they are decent before they need to be replaced.

Not perfect but way better than the black that BD offers. Don't know why he is so hard headed!

Don't use spray anything, use Ivory or Dove bar soap on brass zippers. Just rub it on dry and work it in.

Do you mind telling us the cost of having those inserts stitched up and applied to the door pockets cost you?

Along similar lines : Though I also use them, I have a distaste for the ABS upper door panels. I just noticed this guy selling a soft vinyl alternative, in various colors.

I’m wondering if anyone has used them , and has an opinion?

Bob Drakes the way he should have them made. When I said not perfect I was referring to the color match of the inserts

Took Drakes into a local shop. Asked him to make white ones using the pattern from the black ones he would removed. Told him I would be okay if he reused the black zippers. I did not ask what it would cost, I did not care but I was not going to put black ones in my truck. He removed the black ones. Made white ones with white zippers and glued and stapled the new ones back onto the plastic pocket. When I walked in I was prepared for a big ticket. I bout fell over when he told me the price. $140! Yes for both not a piece.

The factory ones were plastic but they were two thicknesses. Those vinyl ones have peaked my curiosity though. I will let everyone know what they are like if I decide to order a set.
