Buying an Excursion
John
BTW, I have a '93 FS Bronco for sale. E-mail me if you're interested. It's in the classified section. E-mail: bronco4sale(No Email Addresses In Posts!) for info.
[link:www.edmunds.com|www.edmunds.com] is a good start. I have a lot of luck with my insurance agent. You're considering used though. Why do you need that? Get the True Market Value instead.
>How can I learn about the art of haggling?
Oh I could go on and on with this subject! Bottom line(s)...
1. Know that you have the money (secure financing or have it in the bank) BEFORE you walk on the lot.
2. Know how much you're willing to part with. Period. Know what the vehicle is worth on the market AND to YOU! Offer 4K less than what they are asking OR at least 2K less than what you are willing to part with, for starters.
3. Don't ever take their feelings into account. It's YOUR hard earned dough.
4. Be prepared to walk out if they won't "let you buy it" for what you want.
5. DO understand that they need to make some money. So don't expect to buy this truck for 10K. Understand the market value. You are attempting to lower his margins to a fair and reasonable level.
>There two white X's about 90 miles from me with PSD and leather with 25K miles for $26K. Is this a good price?
Ya lucky son of a gun. I looked for a year around me and couldn't find anything with a PSD under $35.
I say that 26K is a good price. In fact, I'd buy another right now for that. Well...maybe 22K.
Have fun and good "skill"!
Living here in Michigan it wasn't hard to find that friend.
When I researched for my used 2000 Excursion, they had new ones selling at the "store" in Kenosha, WI. I just checked again for this post... they have a 2002 Diesel as listed below (that text was pasted from the web site !):

Please note the difference between MSRP / Invoice / and actual asking price! With savings like that, you might be able to afford air fare to go get it.
Anyway, I bought my used 2000 from a store here in VA. Good price, car was detailed well, and they corrected my punch list without quibbling. Mine didn't have all the options I wanted, but there seemed to be some disparity between the different listed options at my research sites, so I accepted the Black over Gold Limited and went om my merry way!!
They do have no haggle pricing, so if haggling a dealer is a necessary thing for you, these low prices may not satisfy the need.
Good luck,
Phil
