Previous owner tune?
Any way to determine if there is a tune on a 6.0?
I wouldn't want to loose a preexisting tune on accident by flashing a new tune over it.
2 vehicles missing certain pieces and with other mods may already have tunes from the pre- E P A days.
I bought both at auction so no comm with previous owner.
I have an sct-x4, an older bullydog, and Forscan, none of which came with aforementioned trucks.

If you can somehow look for the strategy or tune, the OEM tune has the VIN attached to it. Written tunes replace the VIN with their ID numbers.
I am sure someone else can chime in.

Copy. I'm pretty sure the tuners can retrieve the strategy.

I'm thinking this is a stock tune? I know VXCF4DC is a factory strategy, on my 7.3 the custom tunes would be something like VXCF4DC40HP.

I cannot confirm but hopefully someone can.
I recall the VX prefix in some strategies a while back

Actually the strategy number is only part of the equation. You can still have a stock strategy number and be tuned. One would need to compare the Calibration Validation Numbers to truly tell if the truck has been tuned.
The CVN can be retrieved in Mode $09.

Is there a resource that lists stock CVN's? I have a SnapOn Verus Pro scantool that can probably access Mode $09.

I do not know if there is a resource that list the stock CVNs that the public can access.
I know of one that exists, but there is no way to access it. It is owned by CARB and they use it for smog test now in California.
Your Snapon scanner should be able to read mode $09.
