So the Heater on my 2011 f150 does not blow hard in the auto mode even when it is cold outside, and the truck is cold, it just blows on the 2-3 lowest settings, if i push the button for the fan, then it will run in every setting. What could cause this? about the same time, my backup camera turned off the guide lines, and will not display the boxes for backup assist, but will beep. But the dash will let me turn them on, but doesnt actually do it, the setting says set to on, but then you immediately open it again, and it is set to off. so are these related at all? I do have an aftermarket stereo, connected to the sync system via a control box, have had it for over a year probably. That is the only non factory item i have.
Can't help with the second part but with the fan a known weak point is the blower motor resistor crapping out. Makes it do all kinds of stupid stuff. Easy replacement.
thanks for the info, but that is not what mine is doing. Seems like it is just being set to low by whatever controls it.
it will run on all the speeds, just seems to be set to low by what ever controls the auto function.
FYI, rbentnail's advice is solid.
The fan resistor has constant power. If it goes bad internally, the fan will do whatever it wants no matter what position the control is in.
Fan on my '14 was doing weird things, speed wise and control wise. Changed the resistor, problem solved.
Good luck.
ok, thanks,
My apologies for not understanding how it works. I will change the resistor and see if it fixes the issue.
and based on this, they are completely unrelated issues.
Thanks
