fan blower

When I turn on my fan to heat my truck it will start and then kick off. It will proceed to randomly come back on for 5 seconds and shut back off. It does this at all fan speeds. Not sure if it is connected but my driver's side electric seat stopped moving forward and back. The lumbar support function still works, but not front-back and tilting the seat forward-back. Help on both those subjects please.
I have checked under the seat and nothing appears to be broken

Some info on your truck, what are you working on (year, trim, engine, drive, for future reference)?

However, on my '14 Screw, my fan was doing strange things. Randomly go to high, then off, no control, even when AC/heat was off.
Replaced the blower motor resistor, problem solved.

If the blower motor gives out on every setting, it’s the blower motor. I replaced mine a month ago doing pretty well the same thing you describe. Wouldn’t matter what setting it was on it would run like normal and then slowly shut off. The resistor is cheaper and easy to change if your unsure.

I don’t know about the seat, but I don’t think they would be connected.

If you are replacing the blower motor, or taking it apart, replace the resitor at the same time. If you aren't in a hurry you can probably find the parts online pretty cheap.

Could you tell me easiest access to resistor and perhaps what it looks like.
Blower on 1 is out, 4 starts of strong, then slowly dies, only 2 and 3 work (so we know the motor is good).

Appreciate the help.

Right behind the glovebox. 1A auto likes to take off more parts that needed, I didn’t pull that bottom liner off or even remove the glovebox. Just empty your glovebox and squeeze the sides with it open and it’ll unhook and swing down. Disconnect the wiring before you unscrew it.

If your fan dies on 4 it might be the fan, 4 is direct power and bypasses the resistor I think.

TY.

That 4th setting is strange. It does start and blows normal. Then about 3-4 minutes after, you can gradually feel the air get weaker, and hear the motor rpm start to get slower and slower till it stops. If I start it on 3, it works all day and night.

The 4th setting comes in real handy in SFla as you can imagine.

Rockauto has the resistor for $82, and the blower motor for $170 (both MCs).
Reckon I'll start with the cheaper part.

My blower was sort of like some others in that it didn't work on 1 at all but for me all the other settings were ok. Replaced the resistor and all is ok now.

Been a few days and all is still fine. I finally got around to looking closely at the removed resistor. On the underside at what looks like connections, they're not completely black. Whether actually true or not I don't know but it looks like rust has eaten through the thick black paint. If your blower is messing up take a look at the resistor.
