Hi, I have a bit of a cold start problem with my 88 7.3 idi f350 it wont start without the engine heater when it gets below freezing but the wait light is on for 10 sec, i swaped out the glow plugs this summer to some motorcraft ZD9 but it said they were 10.7 or 10.8v shouldn't the glow plugs be 6v?
where did you get the glow plugs from? some people are selling cheap chinese knock off brand plugs with motorcraft numbers on them. ebay is known for this practice.
also 10 seconds is kinda short for glow plug heating. should be closer to 15 + seconds.
on cold engine get a test light or volt meter and check for power at each glow plug. the wiring harness cold be screwed up, or the relay could be bad.
