Any thoughts on the market value of a 1995 f-150 4x4 extended cab long bed 5.8 automatic 4x4 off road, current red / silver front and rear 3:55 limited slip diffs manual hubs manual T-case 185K shiny paint 8.5 + body no current issues well above average gray interior two captains seats with arm rests. excellent condition. conservatively an 8,5. I can get some pics in a few days, but assuming all is as stated, what should I ask for it? I just don't feel like my wonderful daughter finds this to be the best fit for her. So I think it may be time to let her go.
I agree, your daughter wants a snappy car she can get away from the boys in
With the truck, she can run em over
Not cool enough for her right now
Get her a small BMW to be safe in for a few years

As a recently retired tilt n load tow truck operator, listen to me when I tell you, don't buy her a used BMW. In 26 years of towing, I hauled more BMW's than other any brand. You think the truck will be costly, double if not triple what a BMW will cost to repair and keep reliable. Sorry manicmechanic07, in my opinion , BMW means Bring Massive Wallet. .
I would have her be cool in school
The only thing faster than a BMW is a bigger BMW
Get a Focus then
I put two kids through college working on those
You guys don't even know the porcupine joke
Around here could be worth around 8-10k or so, but realisticly probably around 6500-7500.
Likely you'll regret selling though. I'd keep it if possible.
I had a '96 XLT 4x4 in mint condition, green / white 150 XLT with every option known to man. It had 58K on her and looked like new in and out. I sold it in 2018 and bought my current driver an '03 250 XLT 4x4. I still talk about how I should have just kept it for a second vehicle almost every day! Yes I should probably keep it the family. It's a damn nice truck. It's hard to find a rust free one with options.
Thank you all for your thoughts, Very informative.

nothing cool about walking on the side of the road after your bmw breaks down. Junk brand.
BMW sucks, and the drivers don't know how to drive. Lol. I think the first gen Ford Escapes are pretty good with them also coming in 4x4 and all. Fairly fuel efficient and reliable and not super big either. Another is a good old danger ranger. Just don't get one with a 5r44e, I've been down this road and I'm never doing it again. Talk about a joke, friggin Ford over in their office saying "hey, lets make the same transmission for the 3.0 and 4.0 but lets make the bolt pattern different so it's a bitch to find a used one." and I spent months trying to find a used 5r44e 4x4 tranny for a 3.0 to finally getting pissed off and sold it. Truck was at 300,000 miles and to me wasn't worth it to spend all that money for a new tranny and not enough experience with auto transmissions. If it were 2wd I found 2wd 3.0 trucks easy, but the 4x4...not so much. Otherwise my dad has had three and although he hated the 4 banger one he had (he said on a windy day in Kansas with that thing it could do 45 tops and had his foot to the floor) he had a later 90's Ranger with a 4.0 and was very happy with it. He currently has a 19 Ranger FX4 and that things is a beast. Really decent little trucks. As for what it's worth although I'm not specialist in this field truck of that build is running anywhere from $3,500 to $6,500. That's my 2 cents.
If you believe it is an 8.5, put it on Bring A Trailer (if they accept it) and let us know how it turns out.
Absolutely no way I would pay that sort of cash for a near 200k truck that is almost 30 years old. No photos shown, no maintenance listed, etc.
I have the car fax with a ton of maintenance records, No accidents, a folder with years of receipts for maintenance and repairs totaling at least $8000+ No pictures, Nope can I take some sure, But... nice body nice paint no rust no rips in the upholstery no cracks in the padded part of the dash. This thread was to get a temperature of the current market conditions. Not a for sale post. It is one of the nicer old trucks to be found, and if it's market value is $1000. or $20,000. based on the most accurate description I am able to provide then the people here who are in tune with these trucks and the market conditions seems to me like a very good place to solicit some educated opinions.
You did not say how much you would not pay for it so I have no way to guess what you were referring to but I get a feeling you would not have any particular appreciation for a truly well maintained vintage truck that has some very nice options looks and runs great and would be a real find if you were looking for one that has been garaged for most of it's life and is not perfect but damn nice. yes 8.5 Did I get that right?
How much do think it's fair market value would be based on the description assuming of course it's accurate?
You said "If you believe it is an 8.5, put it on Bring A Trailer (if they accept it) and let us know how it turns out."
What on earth does that mean??
You have provided no photos nor docs, I cannot say what I would pay with no data aside from your word. Just based upon what you stated, $4-6k as-is is what they typically flip for here in TX as they really do not do much well. I have been driving these since late 90s.
Certainly not worth $1000 at all, people love the 92-97s, so you probably could do well if you provide all data backing your claims.
Front end ever done? Trans stock or reman? Climate system? Radio work? Floor mats? Records from 10-15 years ago show care, sure..but what has been done recently?
Look up Bring A Trailer online.
Please do not take my verbiage as negative. You asked and I gave my opinion, which are like *******s...we all have 'em.
