2024 F-350 Initial Thoughts
- I am liking the heads up display and new instrument cluster display.
- The instrument cluster is very customizable. I was able to turn on the coolant and trans detailed temps on the guages. Also display the DEF gauge alongside the fuel gauge.
- I like the HUD display for normal driving, the tow mode, and offroad mode. Nice to have different things to see depending on the mode of driving.
- Many of the options I changed for the 2022 Lariat Ultimate using ForScan are now available to change as settings in either the instrument cluster settings or the Sync screen settings
- Double honk on exit
- Auto fold mirrors
- Temps on Gauges
- DPF % (comes with an integrate gauge)
- ForSCAN options I still want to apply
- Turn Signal Flash Count
- Disable all seatbelt chimes
- Potential new tire sizes
- Truck rides just like the 2022. I honestly don't notice much a difference.
- Steering wheel grip feels thinner. OVerall I like it. Buttons are different on the steering wheel.
- I like the console changes. I can actually use the wireless charger. Also the spot to set the phones/slot to set the phones works great. Also, my Yeti water bottle actually fits in the cup holders. Downside, is the storage in the console is smaller.
- So far after 500 miles, the transmission is much smoother, shifts better than the 2022.
- I'm not sure on the stock tire change. I really liked the Michelin LTX A/T 2's on my last 2 trucks. The 2024 came with Bridgestone Dueller A/T's. Makes me want to upgrade them to either the BFG or the new Micheline LTX Platinum in a 295/65/20. But if we can't change the tire size using ForScan.....maybe a Ford Dealer can?
Bad:
- Door interior panels squeak when opening and closing the door. Also, when my leg rests against it it squeaks. Annoying. Seems cheap
- New console plastic squeaks when grabbed touched. Seems cheap.
- I can't seem to figure out the climate control. The past 2022, I was usually able to set climate control to 69 degrees F on both drivers and passenger side and it was just fine. The 400+ miles down to Granger this is how I set. ON the way back in the 2024, I found myself hot and sweaty often. I ended up having to set the drivers side to 64 or 65 and the passenger side to 72 or 73 to get to an almost comfortable setting. Still not perfect.
On my way home last night, I did a quick video.

Buttons after 900 miles now still confusing but I'm getting there. I average 40k a year so it won't be long I'm a pro at it.
I'm coming from a 17 Platinum F250. I was concerned about the ride of the F350 being too stiff. To my surprise the F350 rides just as nice if not better than my F250. I did drop the rear tire pressure from 80 psi to 65 psi.
The F350 turning radius is better than my 17 F250. The infotainment system is really nice, but not as nice as other cars/trucks. You guys are going to hate me for this, but I had a Rivian truck for about a year. The driver experience and infotainment in the Rivian was awesome.
I need to spend more time playing with the settings, but so far I'm super happy with my new truck.

The 2.3.51 FORScan version being referred to was released in Feb 2023 and is thought to cover majority of 2023 Models(note "that we work on it" and also note there have been 6 release versions since {latest is 2.3.57 and 2.4.9beta}) We are just beginning to see 2024 model posts on the Forum and I doubt that the FORScan team had yet to see any 2024 vehicles Physically(their Country is being sanctioned by the way) or seeing support requests for 2024 vehicles by the time of the 2.3.51 release and at the time this statement was likely written!
One could read this line as FORScan Version 2.3.51 will not have any support for the 2024+MY! This line may or may not imply no support for 2024 but the wording does not explicitly say that there will not ever be 2024+MY support in future releases, it likely just says no 2024+MY support in this 2.3.51 version!
One could email the team and ask about this rather than debating this on the Forum!?!
Having been with the FORScan program since its release onto the web in 2010/2011 and on this Forum ever since it opened in 2014, I find it hard to believe that there would be no FORScan support for any future FORD models unless FORD actually does something to prevent it like encrypting the Data(some Manufactures already do this or are threatening to
{John Deer has been in threatened with Farm group class action over this}), We should probably consider ourselves lucky Ford has not done so up to the present!
Also, do not forget that English is not the team's first language and the real meaning can get lost in the translation from Russian sentence structure into English(Original Meaning could have been, FORScan version 2.3.51 will not have support for 2024+MY)!
And as Don Ridley and oldtinfords have pointed out it takes time and physical access(2024 Fords May be rather scarce in Russia currently under sanctions) and/or, at the very least, enough Log and dump.bins files from Licensed Forum members with the 2024+MY vehicles to get any movement on future support for the appropriate vehicles! Therefore it my take a year and several versions!
Notice in the Change logs(https://forscan.org/changes_history.html) that it has taken almost a year and 6/7 versions to get 2023 mostly nailed down and we are still seeing some Posts from members with 2023 vehicles having connection issues!
Just my observation and I have been known to be wrong. Would very much like not to be wrong in this case! For what it is worth!
I was able to eliminate the squeaks in the door panel and console. I used some CRC Power Lube and lightly sprayed it in the joints of the plastic. The squeaking was from where all the plastic parts rubbed together slightly. After a day, no more squeaks.
One thing I'm disappointed about, I fully 100% expected a 3" shank hitch. My 2022 F-350 Ultimate Lariat had a 3" and never thought that Ford would turn back, but looking back, that was idiotic of me. Ford seems to like to change things just to change them. Blahhhh...Now I need to attempt to sell my 3" bulletproof hitch and get a 2.5".
I did get my Gatorback mudflaps installed. The engineers at Truck Hardware are really making the install process a lot easier. I installed a set on a 2006, 2022, and now the 2024 and the 2024 was the easiest yet.
One last thing, I didn't expect different wheels on the 2024, but never thought much about it. I don't really enjoy the design change compared to what was on my 2022 Ultimate lariat and on 2023 King Ranches. So now I have my eyes on swapping the wheels and tires (I "photoshopped" in the modified tires in the last image).
