I need some ideas to fix my braking system. I have tried probably everything and still slow braks. The pedal hits the floor and needs room to stop. I don't whant a truck as nice as this to be damaged due to the braks. Also, I won't sell it this way either. Any ideas please reply.

sounds like maybe air in the lines, or maybe a problem with the rod that pushes the master cylinder

you might have better luck in the 73-79 forum

FWIW- Make sure you use proper spelling when you use the search engine.

There is a good online spelling checker here:
http://www.spellcheck.net/

I see a lot of guys having problems with the search function here because of that.

My 79 was real funny with brakes when I first got it. The other owner said he replaced the vac booster a few times and after a while it would stop working. I had a hard time with that being true, so I checked and sure as crap, the vac tree threaded in the back of the intake was loose and leaking. I used some teflon tape and made it tight, have been using the same booster for 8 yrs now. Just one more thing to check if you have already looked at master cyl, pads, bled the system, all the usual stuff.

It took a few times bleeding my brakes before they finally started feeling right... that was after a cylinder and booster change.
