Looking to flush the radiator on my alumiduty. Looking for any tips and tricks along with any issues you guys have experienced doing this maintenance on your trucks. Also, recommended coolant. Thanks to all who respond!
That said, from the avatar pic it looks like it's a 17+ maybe? In all honesty, depending on how much your truck is worked, it may not need it yet. Sure, it's good preventative maintenance, and if it gives you peace of mind by all means go for it, but I have run well more than 100k on a vehicle and not messed with the coolant system at all, and it's been just fine with no noticeable decrease in efficiency.
I tried to do mine in the drive way this summer. 12 gallons of the new Yellow Morotcraft coolant on hand. Was able to drain the primary. After 4 hours of trying to close the drain I gave up and had it towed to the dealer. To say I now despise this stupid little plastic plug is an understatement.
Factory recommended coolant change interval is 150K, guess you're not too far away from that.
New Ford coolant is the yellow stuff.
Were it me, I would get a shop that has a coolant exchange machine to do the flush, real PITA to do at home.
But, you have to make sure the shop uses Ford yellow coolant, doesn't try and slip in some universal coolant on you.
Mine got swapped out during my recent go-round with the CP4 failure, so I'm skipping the 150K change that would be coming up in a few weeks.

In the 2022 manual they say 10yrs/200k miles but the dealer tried to tell me it's a lifetime coolant now. Yeah, I dont think so.
I'll probably just do a drain and fill when I decide it's time. Maybe pull the plug from the block where the block heater would be to let some additional coolant out. From what I've seen it really isn't difficult.
Edit-Wow $30 a gallon of Motorcraft® Yellow Prediluted Antifreeze Coolant. Wow that is actually $60 a gallon.
Yeah, but you can find the non-diluted stuff for only a few dollars more than that, then add a $1.69 gallon of walmart distilled water and cut the cost way down.

Scrolled down a few more pages in my 2020 manual. Says change every 60,000 under certain conditions...high idle time, primarily towing, high speed at max GVWR, etc.

When I bought it this summer it was around 28 a parts store. I was surprised that the parts counter at my dealer was only around 13 per gallon. I even mentioned to them that were half the cost.
