'79 F-150 here...looking to hook up wiring for a 4X6 trailer. It has the small square 4 pin connector. Just wanted to know if I could splice into the existing wires for the tail lights on the truck? If that's the common area, will that blow the fuse drawing too many amps??

If all you are hooking up is the trailer lights, brakes/turn/running, then splicing into the the rear harness wont be a problem. Just do not add anything else on the circuit.
Also make sure you seal the splices from the weather. If you do not do a good job on the splicing/sealing it will come back to haunt you with interesting light problems in the future
If you find when you hook the trailer up, your turnsignal lights blink very fast and dim, you will need to change your turnsignal flasher under the dash to a heavy duty unit. They have a whole range of flashers, and prices, but the cheap heavy duty ones will fix the fast blinking problem just as well as the expensive ones.
Well, got everything running...sure enough the blinker was quick and dim. So where are these heavy duty flashers available at?Which kind should I get, or is it just pick and choose. Also, if I change to a heavy duty flasher, will that make the blinker real slow without the trailer lights hooked up?
