Tach Not Workng
The tach in my 94 Ranger doesn't work properly. It fluctuates all over the place with no rhyme or reason to the rpm of the motor. If anyone has any ideas or know what the problem might be, your help would be appreciated. Thanks

I've got a 95 4.0, started the same thing this summer, no codes in memory so assumed that it is the gauge. When it goes wacko, a slap on the dash makes it behave, so must be gauge. Unfortunate thing is that you cant buy the tach by itself - I havent had the energy yet to take the dash apart and see if its a loose connection. Let me know if you come up with something.
