I don't have the Pro Power option installed on my '23, but I was curious how they set up the hardware when a truck is configured with that option. It's some serious amperage when the power starts as DC, so there must be some fairly large wires run. Once it's AC, they would be much smaller.
Where is the inverter located and how is the whole thing wired up? Is there some 2-gauge wire run to an inverter in the engine bay?
It shouldn't matter if it's just being used to supply power to tools and such. If it were powering sophisticated electronics then it'd be an issue, IMO.
[QUOTE=Tsax6010;21056741]DS Trucks on YouTube has a few videos testing out the Pro Power system on Super duty, and mentioned that it is a 24v system to reduce wiring costs.
Oh wow, that's exactly what I was curious about. That's wild. It's basically a 24v alternator tied into some aux batteries, and then connected to the inverter.

I believe it's actually 2 12V alternators but could be wrong. Anybody?
Seems to depend on the truck. If you have a diesel with the 410 amp alternator for the supplimental heater, then the 400watt 120volt comes from that one alternator.

The 410 amp is by way of dual alternators, one 250a and one 160a alternator. Also the 400w system is not the same thing as the pro power onboard 2kw system being discussed here. Since the pro power uses its own dedicated alternator/generator does that mean that dual alternators are not available with the 2k pro power onboard system, or would one see a total of 3 under the hood?
I ordered the Pro power on the truck I have on the way.. Do the 7.3L trucks have 2 12V alternators? I also have the factory winch option on it as well..

The factory Warn winch option requires dual alternators, so yeah, you should have two. I looked into adding that option to my XLT, but it was very cost prohibitive buying all that was necessary (it's actually cheaper as a build option, IIRC).

The 7.3L with Pro Power will have one 12v 250amp alternator and one 24v 150amp alternator, same as the 6.7L

I knew the winch option required dual batteries but could've been wrong, have to look at the order guide I guess. My truck should be in my driveway shortly so guess i'll find out then for sure.
