Good morning, I need some feed back. i have attached two pictures one of my truck and one of one I found on facebook. Which one is the correct hood for a 52? Picture on FB My 52 -F3
Top one. The second is a 51. But there might be more to this. I have a 51, came to me all original with original title showing it as a 52. Some states titled a vehicle as the year it was sold. In my case a late 51 built in Louisville got shipped to Indy for MH conversion, then shipped to Idaho, sold, and titled as a 52. Your serial number will give the truest answer. And you’ll want to figure out if a prior owner replaced the hood. Stu
It should also be noted that the top one has been outfitted with the 5 star trim additions. Now, additionally, Victor's truck is Canadian, and I don't have a Canadian book for 52 right at my fingertips to check if they followed through (I would suspect they did eventually, but Victor's engine is purportedly a 51 manufacture, implying this is an early 52)
Thanks, my vin # number say's 52. you are correct it is a Canadian truck so it could be a early 52. I have noticed the difference in the hoods before so it just got me curious.
Thanks again for the quick replies.
Your truck has more than just a 51 hood, but the grille header panel with the V8 emblem, just below the hood, matches as a 51 part also. If your serial number reads AHP in the middle of it, to denote a 52 model, one could presume the likelyhood of it being damaged at some point and receiving a replacement front clip from a used 51. Early 52 or not, it would not have received the wrong parts from the factory.
Hello, my serial number does have a AHP in it. Serial# DFA81AHP-7633, my ownership is for a 52 so I am going with a 52 with 51 front clip on it.

As Wayne is describing, one of Ford's quirks was 48-50 and 52 had the letters F O R D below the hood with the V8/I6 medallion on the hood. 1951 only moved FORD to the hood with the engine medallion on the upper valance.
AHP
A is standard cab
H is Home office assembly plant Ontario
P is 1952

The 51 is open across the three nose ducts while the 52 is blanked in the middle area.
The motor mount frame members in 52 were angled to accommodate the new OHV 215 engine. There are also captive nuts at the base of the firewall to mount the 215 carb linkage. Stu
