Perhaps post the description of what your independent mechanic wrote on your work order, and identify any parts that were replaced?

The air filter was very dirty and replaced. A thorough cleaning of the throttle body was also done. The truck is running beautifully now. It is obvious that I will not be going back to the dealership. I had taken the Excursion there since I bought it 21 years ago. Very recently a new owner took over. A scan done by the independent mechanic showed no codes at all, though the dealership said a code P023 or P0231 came up.
