Ori ginally posted by 1big79 what are the advantages/disadvantages to switching from P235-75-R15 to 31-10.50-15LT's?
The metric (P & LT) have an advantage towing on pavement compared to the Floatation tires. I personal wouldn't use a P tire on a vehicle as large as a Bronco. I'd go with a LT or Flotation series. The Floatation series have numerous tread types for off road use which is where the excel. The various "AT" are an attempt to satisfy all situations.
yea, I wanted to put 31 10.50 15LT on my Bronco, I ended up getting a deal on some 32 10.5 15LTs and put those on. I love them, but the do rub at extreame angles. Personally I like the BFG Allterrain T/A KO, never done me wrong, plus they have good road manners for us part time wheelers.
I have previously owned an 83 and an 88 Bronco and run BFG A/T 33 inchers with no rubbing. On my 94 Bronco, with the more aerodynamic frontend design, I could not fit my 33's, only 32's. Now that I installed a Warn Enforcer bumper my 33's fit fine.
Having said that: To the gentleman installing 31's, you are doing the right thing. In my opinion 31's are the best looking tire for a Bronco. Plus you won't have to change your gear ratio.
